WELLBEING & SUPPORT

Student wellbeing underpins all learning.

Wellbeing at Camp

CAMP operates within a structured model that supports emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.

Support includes:

  • Positive behaviour support approaches
  • Emotional regulation strategies
  • Structured routines promoting independence
  • Explicit teaching of social understanding
  • Individualised support where required

A Safe and Supportive Environment

CAMP provides a structured environment designed to promote stability and confidence.

Safety is embedded through:

  • Clearly defined supervision frameworks
  • Staff trained in behaviour support and safe community access
  • Individual risk assessments for on-site and community learning
  • Proactive planning for transitions and environmental changes
  • Ongoing monitoring of student wellbeing

Community learning activities are carefully planned to ensure safe participation. CAMP operates within established policies and professional standards guiding supervision, incident response and wellbeing practices.

Therapy & Allied Health Collaboration

Many students are supported by external allied health professionals.

CAMP works collaboratively with therapists to ensure learning goals are reinforced consistently within the structured learning environment.

  • Communication systems are used consistently
  • Therapy-informed strategies are incorporated into learning
  • Educators reinforce regulation and behaviour approaches
  • Therapists are welcome to observe
  • Ongoing communication supports aligned goals

Communication at CAMP

Communication is central to independence, participation and wellbeing.

At CAMP, communication is not a separate session - it is embedded across the entire day. Students are supported to express needs, make choices, build relationships and engage in learning through structured, consistent communication approaches.

Every educator is trained to model, prompt and reinforce communication across environments - in the classroom, during community access and in social interactions.

AAC

AAC systems support students to express needs, make choices and participate meaningfully. Communication devices and apps are embedded into daily routines.

Visual Communication Supports

Visual schedules, prompts and structured supports provide clarity and predictability. These tools help students understand expectations, transition smoothly and engage successfully in learning.

Structured Language Modelling

Educators model clear, consistent language to support comprehension and expression. Communication is explicitly taught, reinforced and practised across structured and community based settings.

Communication Device Integration

Communication devices are embedded across learning activities, social interactions and community access. Staff are trained to support consistent use so students can communicate effectively across environments.
